Who has a Bugaboo? It might surprise you.
Liv Tyler has one. So does Sarah Jessica Parker. Gwyneth owns three. We’re talking about Bugaboo strollers, of course, the ultra-chic Dutch-designed prams that have become almost as famous as the celebs who’ve grabbed them up by the handfuls like so many Oscar goodie bags since they debuted in 1999.

Fortunately, you don’t have to make the cover of People to drive a Bugaboo off your favorite baby site’s showroom floor. Sure, they might cost a little more than standard strollers, and some of their biggest fans might also happen to own private jets. But these days it’s not just Jennifer Garner and Katie Holmes steering a Frog, Cameleon or Bee down the street. Parents who keep a lower profile have discovered the Bugaboo’s charms as well and have found they don’t mind doling out a few extra dollars for just about the best combination of comfort, style and practicality in a baby buggy to ever come along.
The Frog was the first to introduce the Bugaboo’s extra cushy suspension and maneuverability. For the luxury-minded there’s the Bugaboo Cameleon, available in 32 possible color combinations. Both the Frog and Cameleon have big detachable bassinets equipped with comfy little mattresses and convert to two wheels for pulling baby through snow or mushy sand. The latest member of the family is the new Bugaboo Bee, the slimmest and lightest at 17 pounds including an extendable seat to accommodate growth spurts. All three models take your cherub from infancy to preschool in stylish, machine-washable canvas. Wide 360-degree-turn wheels let you navigate busy streets, parks and cobblestones with one-handed aplomb.

Love accessorizing? Knock yourself out with all the extras Bugaboo sells: cup holders, parasols, full sun shades, Graco and Peg Perego car seat adapters, diaper bags - even foot muffs to keep tiny toes toasty. News flash: According to Celeb Baby Gear, our Ms. Paltrow has bought a pile of add-ons including the Bugaboo wheeled board. (Now Apple can save some shoe leather while overseeing little brother Moses as they make the rounds in their red Bugaboo Cameleon.)
But don’t take Hollywood’s word for it. Time Magazine dubbed the Bugaboo “the most sought-after stroller around.” Parents like Tailina of Newport, N.C., confirm the Bugaboo’s gaga effect on ordinary moms and dads: “I could go on and on about how nice it is to be able to flip the handle and get the sun out of his eyes, or about the “off roading” we do…those tires take on grass like it’s fresh-laid pavement!”

In other words, don’t feel guilty about wanting the best. You’re not alone. So go ahead. Indulge yourself and spring for something extra nice in baby’s first ride. You know, the stroller that’s launched a thousand flashbulbs as pop idols push their progeny down the avenue. After all, if it’s good enough for Gwynnie’s kids…
